for Winnie (2006)

for Solo Piano

When Winnie asked me to write a short piano piece for her recital, I immediately decided to write a piece about her dynamic spirit and never-ended humor. for Winnie was the result of that. This playful piece was built by a recurrent 4-note scale and repeating-note motive. The dynamics and articulations are to be exaggerated by the performer, to represent her dramatic nature and strength.

This work was later expanded for piano solo and dance ensemble “Furious”.
