 2/26/2012 Birmingham News gave Sarana a four- star rating for her Composition Recital “Samford’s Sarana Chou excels in two compositional worlds.” 2/25/2012 Sarana’s first Faculty Composition Recital at Samford University “When New Music Meets Modern Dance” at Brock Recital Hall. 1/1/2012 Sarana has been chosen to receive the 2012 Alabama Music Teachers Association State Commission Award. 12/6/2011 “Fanfare for Our Time”, scored for Brass Quintet and Antiphonal Wind Ensemble, was premiered by Boston Brass and Samford Wind Ensemble at Brock Recital Hall, Samford University, as part of Boston Brass 25th Anniversary Celebration.
